Your security is our priority
Your cash is exclusively invested in Treasury Bills, which are the safest financial assets available. Plus, it is securely held by one of the world's largest custodian banks, a subsidiary of the Crédit Agricole group. Your cash is never held by Spiko.
Frequent questions
Is my cash fully protected?
The Spiko Money Market Funds exclusively invest in Treasury Bills issued and guaranteed by top-tier countries like the United States, France, and Germany. While your capital is at risk if any of these countries default on their short-term debt, a sovereign guarantee is stronger than a bank's capital guarantee, as banks are more likely to fail than governments. This is why most large companies and institutions prefer parking their cash in Treasury Bills rather than term deposits. To learn more, read our article on capital guarantees.
Will it be straightforward for my accountant to handle?
The accounting and tax treatment of money market funds is similar to that of term deposits. Your accountant will be well-versed in handling the bookkeeping entries for short-term cash investments. The Spiko platform also allows you to easily generate and download accounting statements in PDF or CSV format for any selected period. Additionally, you can grant your accountant read-only access to the interface.
Can I integrate my Spiko account with accounting and financial management software like Pennylane?
Yes! Spiko is integrated with an account aggregator used by many platforms such as Pennylane, allowing you to track your Spiko balance and movements alongside your bank accounts.
Is my cash at risk if Spiko goes bankrupt?
Your cash is fully secure, as it is always held by the Crédit Agricole group's custodian bank - not by Spiko. When you deposit funds, the transfer goes directly from your checking account to the custodian bank. Likewise, when you withdraw, the funds are sent directly from the custodian bank to your checking account. In the unlikely event that Spiko were to disappear, you would still have daily access to your funds. You can indeed always request a withdrawal from the management company, which is legally required to honor it under the supervision of the French securities regulator (AMF).
What is the tax treatment for Spiko products?
In France, both realized gains (withdrawn interest) and unrealized gains (accrued but undrawn interest) are subject to corporate tax.
How long does a withdrawal take?
Business transfers are instant for amounts up to €100,000 per day
Withdrawals for individuals and amounts over €100,000 are processed every business day at 10:30 AM CET. If you request a withdrawal before 10:30 AM on a business day, your funds will be credited to your checking account on the same day. Requests made after 10:30 AM or on non-business days will be processed on the next business day. There are no withdrawal limits.
What are the fees associated with using Spiko?
The only fee for using Spiko is a 0.25% annual management fee on your deposited funds, deducted daily on a prorated basis. The interest you see each day is always shown after this fee has been deducted. You have no fees associated with having an account open at Spiko. You also have no transaction fees on your deposits and withdrawals. Finally, you also have no custody fees.
How do you guarantee daily access to my cash?
Daily liquidity is contractually guaranteed by the fund's prospectus. In practice, the market for Treasury Bills is the second most liquid in the financial system, right after the forex market. This liquidity lets us sell Treasury Bills in large quantities, ensuring we can meet any withdrawal request.
